2015 International Environment Art Project at the National Museum of Marine Science & Technology, Keelung, Taiwan

An international environment art project focused on marine environmental issues will be held at the National Museum of Marine Science & Technology, Keelung, Taiwan, from May 14 to June 7, 2015. This will be the first year of an international environment art project at the NMMST. The curator for this art project is Jane Ingram Allen, American curator and environmental artist who started the first international environment art project in Taiwan (Guandu International Outdoor Sculpture Festival) in 2006 at Guandu Nature Park in Taipei and who also started the Cheng Long Wetlands International Environmental Art Project in 2010 at Cheng Long village, Yunlin County Taiwan.
The theme for the Keelung art project in 2015 is "Paradise - Sustainable Oceans." Over 200 artists from 56 different countries submitted applications for the Keelung art project, and 9 artists, 3 Taiwanese artists and 6 foreign artists, were selected to come to Keelung as artists in residence to create their proposed outdoor environmental sculpture installations. The artists arrive in Keelung on May 14 and stay till June 8 to create site-specific outdoor environmental artworks with natural and recycled materials. The artists will be working with volunteers and visitors and presenting public programs during their stay in Keelung at the NMMST. The artists selected for the Keelung art project are:

Hung-wei Lin - Taiwan

The curator Jane Ingram Allen will also be in residence in Keelung at the NMMST from May 14 to June 8, 2015. The opening ceremony and opening weekend of public activities with the artists for the art project in Keelung will be on Saturday, June 6. The artists will all leave to go back to their countries on Monday, June 8.
